I offer counselling to young people from the age of 10 years and upwards, I have been trained to work with young people through Relate.
I offer a safe and confidential environment to talk to a trusted adult who won’t judge them, but will listen and help them to explore the issues and work through them. Being able to talk about anything that maybe concerning your young person, to someone who isn’t their parent – as we all know that talking to our parents can sometimes be difficult.
I know that young people today face a lot of challenges and it can be a very difficult time for them, we offer support and help covering a wide range of issues.
Some of the common issues that I have experience of working with are :
- Alcohol & drugs
- Body image
- Bullying – cyberbullying
- Feeling listened to & understood
- Home life – relationship with parents and siblings
- Low self esteem & lack of confidence
- Peer pressures and friendships
- School – pressures of exams etc – school phobia
- Separating Parents
- Self harm
- Sex & sexuality
- Step parents – families
Some teenagers will experience difficulties with some of the above issues which if left can cause many issues later on in life. We all want to give our young people the best start in life so dealing with these issues in adolescence is the best way to prevent them snowballing into bigger issues as they reach adulthood.
Have recently undertaken Safeguarding Children Level 1 certificate delivered by Hull Safeguarding Children Board.
Hold a current DBS check (replaced the CRB check) for working with Young People
